Founded in Thunder Bay, Cav-Tal Foods has been servicing wholesale and retail customers across the city and the greater Northwest Ontario market for 20+ years. 

In February 2025, Marten Falls First Nation aquired Cav-Tal Foods, marking a significant step toward regional Indigenous economic sovereignty and food security. The strategic move builds on their successful purchase of Bay Meats, an established local butcher shop specializing in high-quality Canadian meats, including their signature beef jerky and pepperettes.

Cav-Tal Foods is a registered supplier under the Government of Canada's Nutrition North Canada (NNC) program. Registered northern suppliers are authorized to claim federal freight subsidies for shipping perishable, nutritious foods and essential items by air to isolated northern First Nation Communities.
